Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Real Estate Question

I am a landlord. I have a question regarding giving a 30 day notice to vacate a rental unit on a month to month rental. In California is it required to give a 30 Day notice or has this changed to 60 days notice. I heard that this law may have increased to 60 days? Thank you.

Re: Real Estate Question

It depends on the length of time that the tenant was renting the property. If greater than a year and on a non-fixed (i.e. month-to-month) tenancy, then it's 60 days. That law is to expire in 2010, unless renewed.
