Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

I just received a Administrative Citation from the City of Santa Clarita for Dead and Overgrown Vegetation and Defective Unsightly Property and Grounds. My property is in no way Defective and Unsightly, yes I do have 2 rows of weeds along my driveway that Ive asked my son to pull for weeks now but nothing on my property is defective or unsightly! I dont have trash in my yard, no old cars rusting, no toys and junk, this citation is ridiculous and if it was just the weeds I would pay it but i really cant pay the second citation for defective and unsightly its just not true, what are the regulations for vegetation, hight? volume? can they tell you how far to trim back your bushes? What constitutes Defective, whats the definition? I know I can file a complaint and I will but can you tell me the particulars of how they reach the decision of whether one property is OK and the other is Defective? Thank you!!!

It is up to the discretion of the individual inspector, who probably (in most cities) will have been given official guidelines. Go to City Hall and ask to see a copy of the training or guidelines the inspectors are given.
