Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

I have received a collection notice for HOA fees. My home was foreclosed on and the charges are from when i was the owner. i thought that the fees would go with the foreclosure. Do I have to pay this? also this agency is charging $1000 in fees when the HOA fees are only for $102 for the outstanding balance. Also does this have a statue of limitations.

I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

HOA fees from when you owned the unit are your obiligation. If there was a lien, it was wiped out by the foreclosure, but not the debt. There is no way for us to evaluate whether the $898 in added charges are enforceable. We'd have to see the CC&R's and all other relevant documentation. I'd have to look up the limitations, but I'm pretty sure it would either be three or four years.
