Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Recording Deeds of Trust

Could you please tell me whether there is a time limit within which a deed of trust on real property must be recorded. Also, other than losing priority, are there any other ramifications that a person might incur by not recording a deed of trust for real property for several years. Specifically, I am refering to a deed of trust that secures a promissory note. Finally, could you analyze this question assuming alternately that the note is outstanding or it was defaulted upon previously. Thanks,

A mom in CA

Re: Recording Deeds of Trust

There is no time limit but you are not fully protected until it is filed.
