Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Rent Payment

I paid my rent in full with three separate money orders. I personally dropped the envelope off to my apartment management company. Now, they claim they only received one money order, and say I am responsible for the outstanding balance. What are my rights?

Re: Rent Payment

Check with the issuer. and see if the others have been negotiated. If so, obtain a copies as proof. If not, have the issuer stop payment on those not negotiated, and obtain new ones.

Re: Rent Payment

Your right is to not have to pay additional funds. Hopefully, you at least have some sort of receipt for the money orders if not from your management company. If so, your problem should resolve itself fairly quickly.
