Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

How much can my rent be raised and hoe much notice do I receive?

The apartment I live in has been sold. I payed 450 a month, now the new landlord raised the rent to 675, and only gave us a 2 week notice. I have lived there for 5 years, and now they made me give them a 200 security deposit. They also tell me that they can throw everyone out and get all new tenents. Please, can you tell me what my rights are?

If you were on a month to month agreement with the previous landlord, they must give you a 60 day notice inorder to increase rent more than 10%.

If you were on a lease, they cannot raise your rent until the lease is up.
