Rental Agreement

I am planning on renting a house for a week this summer. What should I look for when signing a written agreement with the house owner?

Re: Rental Agreement

Most vacation rentals are trouble-free. The main things to look for are the integrity, experience and professionalism of the landlord. You should convince yourself that the premises are what you want and that they will be in good condition on your arrival. Then, be sure they are in the same or better condition upon your departure. Have joint inspections of anything questionable. Be sure of the payment terms (cash, credit cards, deposits, refundability) and the check-in/check-out times. Get a written agreement early enough so that you have time to ask questions about terms that you don't understand or don't agree to. Get references and be prepared to give them.
