Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Rental Agreement

We are renting a place that included a jacuzzi, the jacuzzi has not worked since we moved in the end of November 2007. We received a electric bill for $179 which is over $100 more then normal for us. We asked to be reimbursed & to fix the problem. We had ask at that point three times the first one in writing. Instead of fixing it they turned it off and drained it and refuse to fix it or reimburse us the $100 extra for the broken jacuzzi. It's in the contract that they would maintain it. We have received two more electric bill one for $86 and the last one for $57, which is our normal range on an edison bill. Is there anything we can do to recoup our $100 or have them turn on the jacuzzi. One reason we rented from the was because I have a sever back problem and could use it for part of my physical therapy.

Re: Rental Agreement

Sure. But, it may not be worth the expense. You can sue in small claims court, though for breach of the lease and damages, i.e. the $100 plus the value of the loss of use of the jacuzzi.
