rental law re: last months rent

What can a real estate company legaly ask you to give them:

1st last and security and cleaning deposit?

If it is residential rental property it can require a two month security deposit regardless of what it is called. First months rent is exactly that. Anything else up to a total, not including the first month's rent, of two months rent is legal.
