Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Rental properties

We rented a house and paid rent until 6/30 as per our lease. We moved out on 6/16 returned the keys etc. The property manager rented the house. I asked if we could get June's rent prorated. They said they didn't collect rent until 7/1. I feel this is not right legally because we paid rent, and had a lease until the 30th. We moved in 3 days early and they made us pay for those days. What is the legal right of this?

Re: Rental properties

You don't have the right to get the prorated rent back if you surrendered possession of the property on the 16th.
