Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Rental Property/ Subletting and Transfers
To provide more information from my previous question, we currently are in a 12 month lease that expires at the end of 04/09, we want to sublet or transfer the lease. The landlord says that neither of those are a possiblility. In fact they told us that transferring the lease is illegal in CA. We would have to pay $150 for each month that we lived there in retribution for the special rate we recieved when we moved in as well as one months rent. What can we do to get out of this hellish situation.... Thanks!
