Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Upon renting a home I noticed there were no smoke detectors installed amd I cannot obtaim renters insurance. I told thd owner I didnt want to move my stuff in until I can get the insurance. Im not in but owner still wants me to pay rent .1 wk later and no detectors

California law requires that every single-family dwelling and factory-built housing have operable smoke detectors that are approved and listed by the State Fire Marshal and installed in accordance with the State Fire Marshal's regulations. (Health & Safety Code, � 13113.8.)
