Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Hi - We are renting a house and the garage came down on the roof of my car and dented it pretty badly. The garage door didn't have sensors on it at the time. We contact the owner, he said get some estimates on car and he had new garage door installed. Now he doesn't want to pay for the repairs on my car, he says I can't prove it was because of the old garage door? Is there anything I can do?

Unless you can show that the building code requires garage doors must have sensors or that the owner lead you to believe it did have sensors and you had not used it very often so had no idea it did not, I do not see that you can show negligence on the property owner. i assume yo do not have renter's insurance/

Submit it to your insurance company. If they think the landlord is responsible they will take it up with him.
