Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Responsibility for relocation due to catostophic disaster

The ceiling of my apartment has leaked so much that the entire apartment is soaked. My T.V. destroyed and other personal items. It started with a small leak that I told the landlord about. Now the ceiling is about to cave in. The landlord has told me to go stay somewhere else. Is the land obligated to pay for me to stay somewhere else and what about my personal items that are damaged? Also what is my next step?

Re: Responsibility for relocation due to catostophic disaster

you would be entitled to a credit or refund of the rent paid for the time you were kept out. He would be liable for your property only if there was some negligence you could prove that caused the damage.
