Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Who is responsible to pay for acquiring and installing deadbolts?

Last year I requested for a dead bolt to be installed on my front door that only had a knob-lock. The management of my complex stated I had to pay $150 to have the dead bolt installed. Is this right according to California Civil Code 1941.3?

Obviously you can read and the landlord can not. The statute clearly says 'landlord.' You might consider giving a copy of CC Section 1941.3 to the landlord. Your other option is to have the work done, and take the cost out of your rent payment in accordacne with CC Section 1942.
