I have a neighbor who is building a new home wich will affect my privacy and sunlight,he also wants to move the fence 5 ft. into my property ,claiming it is his property.the property boundaries have been the same for the past 48yrs[wich is how long my family has owned this property]we have mantained this land all this time.one year ago we paid half the cost to put in a new fence [at his urging]at wich time he took alot of the property he claimed was his.I thought we had come to an agreement of the property line and spent a lot of time and money on neww landscaping, wich I will lose with the moving of the fence, what exactly are my rights?

Hire a surveyor to determine where the property line is according to the deed. A surveyor is cheaper than an attorney and a lawsuit, and the survey needs to be done so you know where you stand.

If your neighbor is correct then you may wish to contact an attorney to see if the facts in your case would allow you to claim the property, by adverse possession.
