Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Roomate moved out without notice, what can I do?
The apartment has a lease with all 4 tenant's names on it. (San Diego, California) One of the tenants choose to move out without warning, before the lease was over, now it is up to us to pay the remaining fee. Is there some sort of legal recourse that can be taken to make him pay his share? He has already stated that he would not.

Normally all four lessees would be jointly and severally liable on the lease. When three of you make good for the fourth, you have a right to recover from him. This is likely a small-claims matter, and I suggest you buy (or borrow) a small-claims self-help book to study up on the process, which has a few technicalities and pitfalls. These include pre-trial matters (service of process), trial itself (presentation of evidence, etc.) and post-trial (collecting your judgment).
