Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Roomate split-up
Brief history:
May 1 agree to six month lease along with two roommates (one was fiancee) extending through October 31.
Problem:
Sunday Aug. 29 while out wife and I were out of town, roommate moved out, three months before end of lease. Roommate also had phone disconnected (was in her name) without notice. I was expecting call from EDD in refference to unemployment claim, without phone call never came. I had also just sent out a dozen resumes with the disconnected number. Also, I do not know where roommate moved to.
I'm considering small claims court suit for last three months + legal costs. Do I have a case? Also, what can I do about the harm that her disconnecting the phone may have caused my claim and job hunt?

Re: Roomate split-up
I dont think there is any legal obligation for the roommate to maintain a phone for YOUR use. If you used someone elses number I think you do so at your own risk.
