Roommate leving apartment early on verbal contract

We have a roommate that wants to cut out early on the apartment. We

have a verbal contract between the 3 of us that he would stay the

remainder of the lease with 2 witnesses. Do we have a case against him

if he tries to leave and not pay us for the month rent?

From what you've described, you probably have a case. The problem is usually not whether or not you have a case, but whether it is worth the time and expense of trying to fight your case.
