Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

do i have right s to get compensated for lost business and income?

hello i bought a store in jan. escrow was ready 21/2 mos ago to close .i find out two weeks ago, they needed 15,000 more. i paid cash to make sure i secured my business. when i went to escrow to ask why closing was taking so long they informed me 15,000 was still due. (which i paid the broker with cashiers checks 23,900 in all. (way back in feb) all escrow recieved from broker was 3,000. i bank wired 111,100. they should have had all of it. i trusted him. the money i had left to live on would have been ok had he not prolongd the closing another couple of months.now were in june july the prime season , income lost. i have no money left, my credit and ability has deminished. bills are piled up are deliquent. i cant even make change on opening day. this broker has really put a hardship on me because of his unethical ways of doing business. he has offered me 500.00 for the inconvience he has caused me. for some reason this hit me real hard. what do you suggest i do. what legal rights do i have ?? thank you for your help and time.

Based on the information you have provided, the best advice for you is to make an appointment with an attorney in your area that practices in the areas of real estate and business litigation. You may have been the victim of a scam by the broker. You will need to have all of the documents concerning your purchase of the business (including any historical income data) reviewed by an attorney.

It sounds like you have a claim against the broker under a number of theories, including breach of contract, fraud, and perhaps intentional interference with prospective economic advantage.
