share a fence on same property

hi,

my neighbors fence fell down by a strong wind some months back, and he stated to me that his insurance wants me to pay half seeing it is on both of our property.

however, i had nothing to do with the fence falling down, so will i be liable to pay half.

is this correct, and what if i do not pay.

if i do help my neighbor it will be around in march of 08.

please advise.

You are not required to contribute to replacing the fence.
