If you are trying to short sale a rental property because you cant afford the payment even though it is rented. Are you still aloud to collect rent from the renters when you are no longer paying the mortgage?

No. If you collect rent and do not pay that rent to the lender, you are probably engaging in "rent skimming," which is illegal.
