special power of attorney

Could you explain what a special power of attorney means as far as giving the power to a family member to have work done to a property that I can not be present at the time as far as consent could the person I give the power to sell the property without my consent.

A special power of attorney should be narrowly drawn to grant only such authority as you intend.
