Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Sued for dues/assessment
I received a summons 5/3/99 to pay delinquent property assessments since 1993, including atty. fee, mailing, 10% interest and etc. for property we were buying 10 years (1/30/89)ago up there in the Sequoia. Its a vaccation place and will only be sold for 2500 owners as community property. After two years we find it difficult to go up there and continue paying. We can not sell it for the purchase price unless we pay huge amount of money, so we gave them a call to say we're giving up the ownership and we stop paying.
How come they can sue us for something we did not get possession? What are my option if any?? Please we need your advise.

Re: Sued for dues/assessment
It is difficult to answer this without seeing the papers you were served with. You need to have an attorney look at them right away. If it was a lawsuit you were served with you have a limited amount of time to take action to protect your position.
