Tenant eviction law change

Gov. Davis just signed new laws regarding tenant eviction, when do they go into effect and how will it change the eviction process in Calif.

I believe the laws go into effect January 1 of next year, but I haven't received my own legal updates yet. From what I understand, the landlord may have to give 60-day notice, rather than 30 days, for ending some tenancies.

Tenants evicted 'without cause' would get 60 days' notice. Unless the law is adopted as an emergency measure, which it probably isn't, it would become effective (if signed) 1/1/03.
