Re: tennants rights

If you live in California, and you do not move, either your current landlord, or the new owner will file an unlawful detainer action against you (an eviction). Generally, landlords are under no obligation to help tenants "relocate." Once the owner of the property gets a unlawful detainer judgment against you, the owner can then have the sheriff or marshall physically remove you from the property. In addition, the owner is entitled to pro-rated rent for any time you remain on the property after the 30th day stated in the notice. The unlawful detainer judgment will include this monetary amount, which will accrue interest at the rate of 10% per annum until paid.
