Re: Title company trouble
Title companies have an obligation of good faith and fair dealing with their clients. The nature and extent of this obligation depends upon the specific relationship, i.e. the type of service being rendered. Withholding information to benefit its interest, if provable, sounds like a proper basis for lawsuit. The prudence of a suit should be examined by an attorney who can assess the nature of the breach of trust involved and the quality of your proof and extent of damages, and give you an informed opinion about bringing suit.
Often one can find out the identity of another person's title company by examining public records at the county recorder's office. Take name and address information and obtain assistance from the clerk on duty.
