Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Trespassing: how bad is it?

Me and a few friends went into our friends apartment complex to go swimming after hours. Our friend who lives there was with us and told us we were allowed to go swimming. We had to jump a fence. When we were leaving the security guard stopped us and sat us on a curb for an hour. We were never asked to leave. They gave us a court order date. What should I expect? Is this a bad situation? None of us have anything on our records. We are not minors either. I've read up and I see some things that say trespassing is either an infracture or a misdemeanor. I want to know if i should expect anything bad or just a fine.

Re: Trespassing: how bad is it?

Since youwere invited on the property by your friend who lived there you were not trespassing. Expect to go to court ready to prove you were there with permission of a tenant and the case should be dismissed.
