Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Unattached Garage Fire
The unattached garage that we rent, caught on fire due to a faulty power strip, and we did not have renters insurance, is there anyway that we could get compensated for our loses?

It depends who owned and/or installed the power strip. If it was you, you may have liability to the owner or his insurer. If it was the owner, they probably are liable to you for damages for negligence. The final possibility is to make a claim or sue the power strip manufacturer and, perhaps, the distributor and others in the chain of distribution.
