Undisclosed Problem With Home

How to approach this problem without an attorney:

purchased home Mar 06; laminate floor in kitchen (in front of sink and dishwasher) began to separate at joints; continued walking traffic caused laminate to weaken and sink; it has now become a safety issue, i.e., like stepping into a hole and twisting an ankle. It's now obvious that the laminate was installed over a badly damaged subfloor.
