My wife is involved in a lawsuit,the case is in federal court.\nShe was deposed already,the other party has not. Instead she was told by her attorney that the other party wants to settle.\nShe wonders what\'s going on.Can the other party refuse the deposition?\n\n

That's really a strategic decision that your wife's attorney has to make, whether to stop all proceedings and engage in settlement discussions, or go ahead and depose the other party. Talk to the attorney and ask what he/she has in mind.
