Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Ex wife listed my inherited home ,escrow /real estate company wouldnt remove listing, they sold my house for 200k less than it was worth, they never had it appraised, I had no input in process as I was not on listing agreement. Escrow company withheld 45k for a "lien" that was already released 18 month's earlier( I found said cert of release of lien after the tramp move out). 4 months after my 28 yr marriage crumbled I was looking through sale contract and noticed a 4k difference in released lien amount and what escrow withheld. I contacted IRS and asked them how much the escrow company sent them at closing and on two separate phone calls, spoke with two different IRS agents and was told," IRS has not received a payment of 45 k in either of our ss#'s, that they(IRS) would. NOT recieve this payment because there was no lien on the property that sold. So I call the escrow company and explain this and they said"you signed the closing docs" and yes we did pay your IRS lien". I asked escrow to mail me copies of the cancelled check, front and back ,of payment made to IRS WITH MY SS # as ref. They said they mailed it to me 2 weeks ago. I never received said docs and now they won't even answer my calls. HELLLLPPPP WHAT TO I DO.

So how did your ex wife get the home in her name so she could sell it? And did you owe the IRS Money?
