Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

what will happen to me if my fiance dies, and he has been claiming me as a dependent on his taxes, and we have been living together for 10 years, and he hasn't granted me as beneficiary? We both have same living address on our drivers license, and I am the Apartment Manager for the property he promised to leave in his will to me..?????????

Your situation is an example of why women should not co-habitate with some one for more than a few months at most. When he dies, you get fired a manager and receive nothing from his Will unless in writing in the Will you are given something. The promise to put someone in your Will is not binding. Your being claimed as a dependent is likely illegal and also means that you have to pay more in taxes your self as you can not claim yourself as a deduction.

If he truly loves you, as opposed to tolerates you for sex, housekeeping, managing, and tax advantage, he would at least transfer title to some property to you and should marry you [he does not marry because he now has all the advantages of a wife and few of the economic burdens].

Mr. Shers is right, you have pretty much no rights unless you have something in writing or a marriage.
