Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
My eight year old son hit a garage door when the throttle broke on a motorcycle he was riding, he lost control and hit the garage door. The owner of the house sent us an estimate with the cost for $385 and for $600. One for the 2 panels to be replaced and one for the whole garage door. He told us the 2 panels could be replaced. We did not pay right away and we were sent a letter saying we now owed $600 for the garage and $300 for lawyer fees. What if anything can we be sued for? We were never sent the actual invoice?

You let your eight (8) year old son ride a motorcycle on public property and someone else's private property? I would seriously enjoy hearing Judge Judy verbally chastise you for allowing such a thing.
You are responsible for your children. You are vicariously responsible for the damage that occurs. You are responsible for the damages, and not the attorney's fees absent a contract that states you are responsible for attorney's fees or a statute that provides otherwise.
