Is it within law to NOT disclose a reason for ability when applying for a loan?

What is a "reason for ability?"
To me, a "reason for ability" sounds like having the ability to be a good piano player because both of your parents were professional musicians.
I cannot relate "reason for ability" to the topic of loan-application disclosures.
