Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California
My former friend and ex co-worker is sexually harassing me at my former and current places of employment. I formally ended our friendship over a year ago, since that time I have received text messages ranging from insults to pleas of reconciliation, as well as numerous comments from friends and near strangers alike; relaying slanderous comments he has made about me. Most recently he fabricated a rumor in which I was sexually intimate with a co-worker at my former place of employment, after spreading the rumor around there; he took it upon himself to contact my current place of business to notify my co-workers of the supposed sexual relations. This man is stalking me indirectly, he asks my friends about me, and he slanders my name and reputation, and is now harassing me in regards to my sexuality. I' am a 22 year old woman, and a virgin, I' am not ashamed but proud to have with-held giving myself until I' am ready, and he's portraying me to my friends and acquaintances as trashy and less than admirable. To him this is all just a joke, he finds it very funny to spread rumors and harass people, and to me it has become infuriating and psychologically damaging. I would like to ask a lawyer, based on my simplified and un-detailed statement; do I have any grounds for a lawsuit?
