Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California

sexual contact with a social work client

Although it was never consumated, I had some sexual contact with a mental health client -- I was not her therapist -- I was in charge of finding her housing. She has filed charges against me. Although completely inappropriate, and I resigned my position, all contact was completely consenusal (she is 35 y/o), and I never attempted to use my position to curry sexual favors against her will. While I am mortified and ashamed by my conduct, and blame no one but me... is this a crime? The police now want to question me.

Re: sexual contact with a social work client

You already made one serious error in judgment. Don't compound the error by talking to the police without, at least, consulting with a criminal defense attorney first. You won't get the advice you need on the internet. You'll need to hire someone you can confide in and who can provide the proper legal assistance you need.
