Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California
teacher being harassed by student (s)
i received an extremely graphic and vulgar message on my voicemail at work. the person who left the message claimed to be one of my students. can i file sexual harassment charges against this student if i can prove that it was indeed him? would the charges be a civil or a criminal matter?

Re: teacher being harassed by student (s)
Thanks for your posting. If there was a threat of imminent physical harm to you, you should call the police, as the threats themselves may be a criminal charge, in which case the police could investigate. You should also let your supervisors know about what was stated by the alleged student. You can file a civil lawsuit, if you wish, although it is not clear, yet, what your damages may be.
Best of luck.
