If there is more to the story, you could sit down with a lawyer and explain all the facts to see if there really is anything to be concerned about and how to defuse the matter. But a claim like this would be frivolous and, despite what you hear from politicians, there are ways to get rid of frivolous lawsuits. Of course, if this is really a friend, you could always apologize and ask him what he really wants out of this. Because he clearly is not going to get rich.
