Legal Question in Social Security Law in California
I may be eligible for a cash award of about $75,000. I'm receiving SSI and medi-cal. I'm seriously ill and can't be left with no medical care and after I pay my creditors it will be almost gone. Will I loose my medi-caid immediately or is there a spend-down time? If I became ineligible for SSI could I claim Social Security from my ex-husband...we were married 14 years. Or would there be the same penalties? It is lack of medical care I'm worried about. I have some very expensive medicines and treatments.
1 Answer from Attorneys
I believe that they only count salary from a job. But why not call them up directly ans ask a couple of different agents what the policy is. If you still are not sure, contact an attorney who handles these types of matters and ask them.
