Legal Question in Social Security Law in California
social security survivors benefits
I draw survivors benefits from social security, and now they have cut the annual income limit you can earn without affecting your s.s. from over $30,000 down to $12,940. Not only did they make me ineligable to draw benefits, but the also kept payings the benefits
without any notice to me. Therefore
making me $8,200 in debt when i recieved my first notification of this change. I have an option to appeal, but i don't know on what grounds to do so. Please help.

Re: social security survivors benefits
Hello
You do not appeal per se. You seek a foregiveness due to hardship so as not to have to repay overpaid benefits. As far as "winning" an appeal to keep receiving benefits that under the current/new benefits you are ineligible for, that is a lost cause.
Welcome to this century---Social Security has less and less money as the "boomers" are all growing older and staying healthy and active, etc.
I speak from experience--I'm 57!
Good luck.
