Legal Question in Social Security Law in California
ss disability privacy
there is reson to believe our little grandsons father is currently receiving ss disability but has chosen not to claim his two sons. 8 and llyrs. Due to the privacy act there doesn't seem anyway to help get his young sons benefits. He was a no-show on his job 25 months prior and has not contacted his family for nearly 3 yrs. SS would only tell us he was not dead. One told us to contact them in 2-3 yrs. Is it legal not to claim benefits for ones own sons: His is their father as stated on their birth certificates. We were told his acct. was covered by the privacy act and also it was his acct.

Re: ss disability privacy
The person responsible for custody of the children should make a claim for the children's benefits. Contact a CA attorney specializing in SS law. The children may have a sizeable amount due them in past due benefits.
