Legal Question in Tax Law in California
Employment
I responded to an ad for a personal assistant and was told I was hired. The contact that I have with my employer is through email.
I was told that I would receive a check and when it had come that I would get instructions on how to handle the money.
I received a check FEDEX for $2700 and my pay (for one week part-time) is $500.
The check was signed by a third party and is drawn on Bank of America from a Florida Company.
What do I need to do to ensure that I am acting legally?

Re: Employment
If your "job" consists of cashing the check and sending part of the money to some stranger by Western Union, you are the last person on earth to learn about the fake check scam. Go to fakechecks.org.
