Legal Question in Tax Law in California

i filed my 2006 tax return this year and its been a month since mailing in the ppwrk to the irs.. so i started digging around for a reason why it was so late. after reading and researching the irs web site i finally realized that i improperly entered my whole phone bill amounts instead of the 3 % one is supposed to, what does this mean for me, can i fix it somehow what will be the irs's next step to aide me in correcting this error or is it too late to correct and will i be in some kind of trouble

By now the IRS has probably computed and assessed some astronomical amount of tax for that year, they will ignore your late-filed return, and you will be stuck with the IRS' assessed tax for all time. And your tax debt for that year won't be dischargeable in a bankruptcy.
