Fundraising for a cause w/o a nonprofit
How to raise funds for a cause
without starting a non-profit. I
believe in a cause, and I want to
raise awareness. So I want to raise
funds to mail out literature to
people. How do I do that without
starting a non-profit?

Start a blog or a website, it's free! Hint: Google for [how to start a blog].

Assuming this cause does not already have an established non-profit you could work with, the best course of action is to actually go-ahead and start the non-profit. It is a lot easier and cheaper than you may think and it would go a long way to protecting you from charges/allegations that you misappropriated donations.
