Legal Question in Tax Law in California

Married but not citizen and property taxes

I am married to a citizen of USA. I am not a citizen myself yet. We are buying a new house and we were told that my name shouldn't be on the title of the house because it would be considered as a gift when it is over $100.000 and I would have to pay separate taxes on it , even though we would own the house together as a married couple. Is it true? And aslo the only way it would came up is If my husband got audited or died?

Is it all true, or can we buy a house together and own it together 50 - 50 ?

Thank you!

Re: Married but not citizen and property taxes

Who is telling you this. California is a community property state, so the community owns the house and purchases it together. There is no "gift".
