Legal Question in Tax Law in California

Social Security and IRS

When I went to renew my driver's license, they said I didn't exist and refused to renew. They sent me to the Social Security Office. Hmmm... It turns out they cross reference with Social Security for a SSN, birthdate etc.

Somehow, Social Security had the wrong birthdate and it didn't match my driver's license. I had to send for my Certified birth certificate, they then STILL wouldn't update my SSN.

They insisted on issuing a NEW SSN. I needed my driver's license to function so I told them to go ahead and that allowed me to get my driver's license.

I now have two SSNs. I'm not sure how to straighten it out. Do I start using my ''new'' SSN which has the correct date of birth, or my ''old'' SSN which has me 5 years younger and means it will be 5 years later than what it should ve to collect Social Security.

Should I file my taxes using my ''old'' or my ''new'' SSN?
