Legal Question in Tax Law in California
A tax preparer advised me that i was entitled to a refund. I stated "how could that be?" "I have not worked for at least a year". She voiced that she has been a doing this profession for over 12 yrs. Seemingly sincere, I trusted her as she stated that all is legally done and recorded. She asked me to sign a few forms. So therefore, i signed where instructed to do so and was asked to bring back my original social security card and one of my fathers checks to have it directly deposited into an account, his credit union information which i personally gave to them had been rejected twice being that it was the wrong routing number. She submitted my 2009 taxes, and instructed me not to open any IRS letters if any received to give them to her or her husband they have people to take care of that. I have no copies of any paperwork she moved and changed her phone numbers. I am now being audited. What do i do now?
