Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

I need help

i got 3 DWS my husband would take me to work and get drunk so i had to drive home i went to my court dates and got fines or community service my husband claimed he paid the fines i got pulled over for the 4 DWS & found out that my now exhusband didn't pay the fines and the due date has pass and i have a bench warrent i'm out on bond and since got my license & ins. but the judge is telling my i will do 53days in jail & wont drop the 4th oven thought i now have my license my public defender just told my that he bought me 1month and make plans for going in i'm a single mom of 3 boys and will lose my job and house if i do go to jail what can i do? i thought the fines were paid off. i go to court 05-22-07

You should ask the court for a continuance to allow you to seek a second opinion from another attorney. Also ask about alternatives to actually serving time in jail. Some counties have public service programs as alternatives to actual jail time. There may also be a program for work on weekends as alternative to being in jail.
