Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

3 outstanding traffic tickets

In 2006 3 tickets. I completly forgot about the tickets until recently when I found them. a few weeks ago I was pulled over while driving my sister's car for not having the car registration. But I told them that it was registered and it just had the old plates still, I showed the proof of ins. etc. They asked for DL which I didnt have so I pretended to be her b/c I did not know if there was a bench warrant, they gave me a ticket to show proof of registration and DL and took my finger print and let me go. Now I have no idea what to do or what my sister should do since she has to go to court to show proof of registration. Them taking my finger print shows that I was not really her... I want to take care of the tickets and get my DL back but I wanted to know, can I go to jail? How should I go about handling this and what should my sister do? Please help!!

Re: 3 outstanding traffic tickets

You just raised your case from an in fraction to a misdemeanor. You would have been in better position to have just told the police officer your name and stated that you did have your driver's license. Because this is a much more serious situation, you should consult with an attorney to assist you in this matter.
